CONSOL produces 14.7 million mt of coal in Q3

On October 14, West Virginia, US-based, CONSOL Energy, a producer of metallurgical coal among other fuel products, reported total coal production of 14.7 million mt for the quarter ended September 30, 2010. Included in the total was 1.3 million mt of low-volatile coal produced by the company's Buchanan Mine.

The gas division of CONSOL achieved a record quarterly production of 35.8 billion cubic feet for the quarter ended September 30, 2010, the coal producer added.

CONSOL is the largest producer of high-Btu (British thermal unit) bituminous coal in the United States and a leader in the production of coal-bed methane gas.
