The Turkish Steel Exporters' Association (CIB) has announced that the safeguard investigations launched by Colombia in August 2013 regarding rebar, steel section and pipe imports from Turkey have been concluded in favor of Turkey.

According to the CIB, since Colombia is an significant export destination, it is important for the Turkish steel industry to emerge unscathed from the safeguard investigations launched upon the application of Colombian producers.

"Turkish steel products are always preferred in international markets given their quality and price policies. However, in certain countries, local producers are uncomfortable with this situation. These producers mainly aim to achieve unfair increases in their prices and create advantage for themselves. Colombia's safeguard investigation is the latest example," said CIB chairman Namık Ekinci, adding that these investigations cause injury to the Turkish steel industry.
