Colombian iron and steel exports down 24.8 percent in April

In the first four months of this year, Colombia exported 40,485 mt of ferronickel, decreasing by 5.6 percent, with a value of $169.27 million, down 31.2 percent, both year on year, as announced by the Colombian National Administrative Department of Statistics (DANE). In April this year, the country's ferronickel exports amounted to 7,278 mt, decreasing by 35.9 percent, while the revenue from these exports was $32.96 million, down 49.4 percent, both compared to April 2013.
 
In the first four months of the current year, Colombia's iron and steel export volume totaled 72,992 mt, down 15.5 percent, with a value of $213.72 million, down 30.4 percent, both on year-on-year basis. In April this year, Colombian iron and steel exports amounted to 16,166 mt, decreasing by 24.8 percent, and were worth $45.20 million, down 42.7 percent, both compared to the same month of 2013.
