Despite the ongoing hostilities in Ukraine, in January of the current year Ukraine-based Zaporizhkoks, a coke mill belonging to Metinvest group, achieved a very strong performance. Accordingly, in January the company saw its coke output increase by 6.1 percent year on year to 72,900 mt, achieving the highest output during the latest 18 months. In August 2021, the company's coke output had also totalled 72,900 mt.

Meanwhile, in 2022, Zaporizhkoks produced 737,400 mt of blast furnace (BF) coke, down 11.9 percent year on year, due to the shutdown of the plant from March 1, 2022, after the start of Russia’s invasion of Ukraine. Since April 1 last year, production had been restarted.
