Coal shipments by China’s railways down 3.7 percent in August

In August this year coal shipments by Chinese railways amounted to 155 million mt, down 3.7 percent year on year, while in the January-August period of the current year, coal shipments by Chinese railways totaled 1.21 billion mt, down 10.4 percent year on year, as announced by China’s National Development and Reform Commission (NDRC).

In the January-August period of the current year, China’s coal imports and exports amounted to 156 million mt and 5.67 million mt, up 12.4 percent and rising by 72.2 percent year on year, respectively.
