According to the data provided by the authorities at the port of Qinghuangdao in China's Hebei Province, as of May 21 coal inventory at Qinghuangdao port totaled 6.46 million mt, rising 9.6 percent week on week from 5.89 million mt.

During the week ending May 21, coal arrivals at Qinghuangdao port came to 5.17 million mt, up 68,000 mt as compared to the previous week. Meanwhile, in the given week coal shipments from the port totaled 4.61 million mt, down 284,000 mt week on week. The decrease in coal shipments from the port is attributed to the current weak state of demand in the domestic coal market.
