Coal exports from PWCS up 20.2 percent in July from June

Coal exports from Port Waratah Coal Services (PWCS) terminals based at Port of Newcastle in New South Wales, Australia, totaled 9.48 million mt in July this year, increasing by 20.2 percent compared to June, according to the company's announcement. 12 percent of the total coal handled at the terminals in June was coking coal.

According to the released information, Japan was the largest export destination for coal shipments from PWCS in July, with shipments to Japan accounting for 49.48 percent of total shipments, while coal exports to South Korea made up 16.59 percent of the total. 

PWCS accounts for one third of Australia's exports of coal, which is the country's second most important export commodity in terms of value.
