Coal exports from Australia’s Newcastle port drop

In the week ended August 31, coal shipments from the Port of Newcastle in Queensland, the coal producing state of Australia, totaled 2.85 million mt, according to Newcastle Port Corporation. The figure constitutes a six percent decrease compared to the previous week.

The port authority has forecast that Newcastle port will ship a total of 10.9 million mt for September.

Anglo American, Peabody Energy, Rio Tinto and Xstrata are some of the larger exporters to ship coal from Newcastle port.
