Cliffs reaches agreement with USW, AK Steel ratifies labor agreement with UAW

Cleveland, Ohio-based Cliffs Natural Resources Inc. announced Thursday that the United Steelworkers Union local membership have ratified a three-year labor contract agreement for its Bloom Lake Mine in Fermont, Quebec. The new labor agreement covers approximately 300 represented workers.

Meanwhile, on Wednesday, West Chester, Ohio-based AK Steel said that members of the United Auto Workers Local 3044 have ratified a four-year labor agreement covering about 195 hourly production employees at the company's Rockport Works. The current agreement expires on September 30, 2013.  The new agreement takes effect September 30, 2013 and expires on September 30, 2017.
