According to the data released by the China Iron and Steel Association (CISA), as of the end of September (September 30) the composite steel price index (CSPI) for the Chinese domestic market was at 61.19 points, down 2.17 points or 3.42 percent month on month, while the index in September decreased by 25.16 points or 29.14 percent on year-on-year basis.
At the end of September, the CSPI long steel index was at 62.63 points, down 2.72 points or 4.16 percent month on month and decreasing by 23.35 points or 27.16 percent year on year, while the CSPI flat steel index stood at 60.30 points, down 1.54 points or 2.49 percent month on month and declining by 27.98 points or 31.69 percent year on year.
During September, among the eight main steel products monitored by the CISA, prices of high-speed wire rod, rebar, medium plate, hot rolled coil (HRC), cold rolled sheet (CRS), hot dip galvanized (HDG), angles and seamless pipe decreased by RMB 117/mt ($18.43/mt), RMB103/mt ($16.22/mt), RMB 99/mt ($15.59/mt) and RMB 53/mt ($8.35/mt), RMB 48/mt ($7.56/mt), RMB 62/mt ($9.76/mt), RMB 54/mt ($8.50/mt) and RMB 84/mt ($13.23/mt), respectively.
