According to the data released by the China Iron and Steel Association (CISA), as of the end of June (June 30) this year the composite steel price index (CSPI) for the Chinese domestic market was at 101.03 points, up 1.76 points or 1.77 percent month on month, while increasing by 33.20 points or 48.95 percent on year-on-year basis.
At the end of June, the CSPI long steel index was at 106.73 points, down 1.66 points or 1.53 percent month on month and increasing by 40.25 points or 60.54 percent year on year, while the CSPI flat steel index stood at 97.86 points, up 4.70 points or 5.05 percent month on month and increasing by 26.74 points or 37.60 percent year on year.
As of the end of June this year, among the eight main steel products monitored by the CISA, prices of high-speed wire rod and rebar decreased by RMB 113/mt ($16.6/mt) and RMB 108/mt ($15.9/mt), while prices of angles, medium plate, hot rolled coil (HRC), cold rolled sheet (CRS), hot dip galvanized (HDG) and hot rolled seamless pipe increased by RMB 91/mt ($13.4/mt), RMB 66/mt ($9.7/mt), RMB 246/mt ($36.2/mt), RMB 149/mt ($21.9/mt), RMB 114/mt ($16.8/mt) and RMB 82/mt ($12.1/mt), all compared to price levels at the end of May of the current year.
