One of the largest Russian pipe producers, ChTPZ Group, which consists of Chelyabinsk Tube Rolling Plant (ChTPZ) and Pervouralsky Novotrubny Works (PNTZ), has announced that during the first eleven months of 2009 it registered a 29 percent decrease year on year in its pipe deliveries to 1.11 million metric tons.

The year-on-year decline in the group's pipe shipments was due to the significant decrease of demand in the Russian domestic pipe market, i.e., demand dropped by 21 percent year on year during January-November this year due to the macroeconomic situation.

In particular, during the period in question, the pipe deliveries of ChTPZ amounted to 522,600 mt, including 324,000 mt of large diameter pipes. In November alone, ChTPZ shipped 50,560 mt of pipes - up 19.24 percent month on month.

On the other hand, PNTZ's pipe shipments in January-November this year amounted to 488,400 mt; meanwhile, its November deliveries totaled 47,600 mt - up two percent month on month.

In November this year, ChTPZ Group's total pipe deliveries amounted to about 98,200 mt - up 63.6 percent year on year. A significant growth occurred in almost all types of pipes, especially in large diameter pipes, the sales of which increased by 2.5 times.
