Chinese steel producer Chongqing Iron and Steel (Group) Co. has stated that, six months after commissioning, its project for the recycling of sinter of small grain size from blast furnaces has proved to be a success. The recycling is expected to reduce the steel producer's raw material costs by RMB 20 million ($3.27 million) per year, and to reduce the risk of shortages of sinter.

According to Chongqing Steel, during the April-September period this year the volume of recycled sinter of small grain size amounted to 46,676 mt, worth RMB 7.342 million ($1.2 million).
