Chinese Wuhan’s plans new silicon steel sheet mill

Chinese iron and steel mill Wuhan is considering to construct a second mill located in Hubei province of southern China. The plant's starting date of construction has not been clearly stated yet but its annual production capacity is planned to be 460'000 tons to produce 80'000 tons oriented and 380'000 tons non-oriented silicon steel sheet. Once the project becomes definite, a total investment of Yuan 3.78 billion (approx. $455 million) will be made. Meanwhile, through this project, Wuhan will become the largest cold rolled silicon steel sheet producer in China by increasing its annual output to 1.08 million tons. Wuhan has also another seperate project to establish a second cold rolled steel mill to start production in 2005 with a total annual production capacity of 2.15 million tons.
