China’s overall rail freight volume down 9.8 percent in Jan-May

In May this year, China's rail freight volume totaled 290 million mt, down by 11 percent year on year, as announced by China's National Development and Reform Commission (NDRC). In the first five months of the current year, China's total rail freight volume amounted to 1.43 billion mt, decreasing by 9.8 percent year on year.

Meanwhile, in May, China's rail freight mileage amounted to 200.1 billion ton-kilometers, down 12.7 percent year on year, while the figure totaled 1.0151 trillion ton-kilometers for the January-May period, declining by 10.9 percent year on year.
