China’s overall rail freight volume down 10.1 percent in H1

In the January-June period this year, China’s rail freight volume totaled 1.7 billion mt, down by 10.1 percent year on year, as announced by China’s National Development and Reform Commission (NDRC).

In the first half of this year, China’s rail freight traffic amounted to 1.2050 trillion ton-kilometers, down 11.4 percent year on year. In the given period, the passenger volume on China’s railways amounted to 1.22 billion, up nine percent year on year, while the passenger traffic volume on China’s railways amounted to 583 billion people-km, up 5.4 percent year on year.
