China’s investment in rural roads up by about 40 percent in 2011-15

During China’s 12th five-year plan period (2011-2015), China has constructed more new roads in 5,000 villages nationwide, while roads have been resurfaced in around 900 towns and 80,000 villages, according to China’s Ministry of Transportation (MOT).

Accordingly, by the end of 2015 the total length of newly constructed rural roads in China will exceed one million kilometers.

Over the past five years, China’s investments in construction of rural roads nationwide has totaled RMB 1.3 trillion ($204.08 billion), rising by around 40 percent compared to the 11th five-year plan period (2006-2010).
