China’s steel imports fell in 2005
China imported 1.56 million metric tons of steel products in November 2005. With this figure, total imports through January-November 2005 reached 24.04 million metric tons, down 12.11 percent year on year. Yet, the value of the imports in the same period increased 20.63 percent to $22.87 billion.
Bar and rod imports accounted for 88,424 metric tons in November. Total bar and rod imports in the first eleven months reached 995,330 metric tons, down 21.62 percent year on year and their value reached $925.58 million, up 10.63 percent year on year.
35,754 metric tons of angles and profiles were imported in November. Total quantity through January-November reached 575,117 metric tons, down 23.44 percent year on year, while their value also dropped 8.3 percent to $293.35 million.
Flat imports accounted for 1.84 million metric tons in November. Total flat product imports in the first eleven months was 20.94 million metric tons, down 10.67 percent while their value increased 19.9 percent to $18.82 billion.
93,824 metric tons of the imports in November were
pipe products. The
pipe product imports through January-November were 991,904 metric tons, down 18.84 percent year on year, while their value increased 44.11 percent to $2.05 billion.
