China's steel exports up 40.9 percent in January-May

China's finished steel exports amounted to 36.369 million mt in the January-May period this year, increasing by 40.9 percent year on year, according to the latest data released by China's General Administration of Customs (GACC) on June 7.

In the given period, China imported 3.129 million mt of finished steel, down 37.1 percent year on year.  

In May alone, China’s finished steel exports and finished steel imports amounted to 8.356 million mt and 631,000 mt, up 5.37 percent and 8.79 percent month on month, while rising by 7.68 percent and down 22.1 percent year on year, respectively.
