China’s steel exports down 5.4 percent in January

According to the Chinese customs authorities, China's steel exports for January totaled 4.14 million mt, down 5.4 percent year on year and down 13.4 percent month on month. The country's steel imports reached 1.43 million mt in the same month, down 3.4 percent year on year and up 7.5 percent month on month. Meanwhile, China's imports of iron ore fines amounted to 36.81 million mt in January, up 2.7 percent year on year and up 7.6 percent month on month.
