China’s steel bar exports up 94.3 percent in January-February

In February this year, China exported 7.80 million mt of finished steel, up 62.4 percent year on year, according to the monthly import and export data issued by the Chinese customs authorities on March 23. In the January-February period of the current year, China exported 18.08 million mt of finished steel, up 56.4 percent year on year.

In particular, in February China's export volumes of steel bars, angles/channels, wire rod and steel plate amounted to 2.77 million mt, 410,000 mt, 180,000 mt, and 3.30 million mt, up 97.5 percent, 34.3 percent, 155.2 percent and 36.3 percent, respectively, year on year. In the January-February period, China's export volumes of steel bars, angles/channels, wire rod and steel plate amounted to 6.42 million mt, 870,000 mt, 400,000 mt, and 8.12 million mt, up 94.3 percent, 15.7 percent, 52.5 percent and 47.9 percent, respectively, year on year.

Meanwhile, in February, China exported 560,000 mt of metallurgical coke, up 1.9 percent year on year, while it exported 1.63 million mt of coke in the January-February period, up 26.5 percent year on year.
