China’s steel bar export up 97.1 percent in January-April

In the January-April period this year, China’s exports of steel bars totaled 3.54 million mt, up 97.1 percent year on year, while its wire rod exports amounted to 780,000 mt, rising by 26.5 percent year on year, according to the Chinese customs authorities. At the same time, China’s export volumes of angles/channels came to 1.56 million mt in the given period, up 77.3 percent year on year.

In April alone, China’s export of steel bars amounted to 910,000 mt, up 75.9 percent year on year, while its exports of wire rod and angles/channels amounted to 220,000 mt and 420,000 mt, up 32.2 percent and up 57.2 percent year on year, respectively.

Starting from the beginning of April, Chinese rebar export prices have seen an overall downtrend amid the decreasing trends in rebar futures prices and local rebar prices.
