In the January-October period of the current year, the aggregate shipbuilding output in China amounted to 32.87 million deadweight tons (dwt), up 15.4 percent year on year as announced by the China Association of the National Shipbuilding Industry (CANSI) on November 18. In the given period, China's new ship orders amounted to 20.38 million dwt, decreasing by 62.1 percent year on year. As of the end of October, ship orders on the books of Chinese shipbuilding enterprises totaled 132.01 million dwt, down 14 percent year on year and decreasing by 11.6 percent compared to the end of 2014.
In the January-October period of the current year, the aggregate shipbuilding output for export orders in China totaled 28.92 million dead weight tons (dwt), up 18.1 percent year on year and accounting for 88 percent of the total shipbuilding output in China in the given period. Meanwhile, China's new ship export orders in the period in question amounted to 17.89 million dwt, down 64.4 percent year on year and constituting 87.8 percent of total new ship orders. As of the end of October, ship export orders on the books of Chinese shipbuilding enterprises totaled 126.01 million dwt, down 13.9 percent year on year and constituting 95.5 percent of total ship orders on the books of Chinese shipbuilding enterprises.
