In 2014, the aggregate
shipbuilding output of the 54 main
shipbuilding companies in
China amounted to 35.80 million deadweight tons (dwt), down 4.9 percent year on year, according to the figures released by the
China Association of the National
Shipbuilding Industry (CANSI).
In the given period,
China’s new ship orders amounted to 55.45 million dwt, down 7.5 percent year on year. As of the end of December, ship orders on the books of Chinese
shipbuilding enterprises totaled 146.64 million dwt, up 24.7 percent year on year.
In 2014, the aggregate
shipbuilding output for export orders of the 54 main
shipbuilding companies in
China totaled 30.07 million dwt, almost remaining unchanged year on year and accounting for 84 percent of the total
shipbuilding output in
China in the given period. Meanwhile,
China’s new ship export orders in the period in question amounted to 51.01 million dwt, down 8.7 percent year on year and constituting 92 percent of total new ship orders. As of the end of December, ship export orders on the books of Chinese
shipbuilding enterprises totaled 140.04 million dwt, up 35.2 percent year on year and constituting 95.5 percent of total ship orders on the books of Chinese
shipbuilding enterprises.
Meanwhile, according to
China’s Customs, in 2014 the total value of
China’s ship exports amounted to $23.78 billion, down 14.1 percent, while
China’s ship imports totaled $1.25 billion in value, down 37.1 percent, both year on year.
