China’s scrap exports indicate huge increase in January-July

In July this year, China exported 170,337 mt of scrap, rising sharply compared to the 207 mt of scrap exports recorded in July 2016, according to the monthly import and export data issued by the Chinese customs authorities.

In the January-July period of the current year, China exported 468,443 mt of scrap, indicating a huge increase compared to the 647 mt in the corresponding period last year.

Meanwhile, China imported 140,000 mt of scrap in July this year, while it imported 170,000 mt of scrap in July last year. In the January-July period this year, China imported 1.45 million mt of scrap, while it imported 1.16 million mt of scrap in the same period last year.
