China's National Development and Reform Commission (NDRC) has announced that as of February 15 railway
freight charges in
China have increased by RMB 0.015/mt/km ($0.0025/mt/km) to RMB 0.135/mt/km ($0.0222/mt/km). Given that
China's overall railway transportation volume in 2012 totaled 3.2 billion mt, annual income from rail
freight charges in
China is expected to rise by around RMB 40 billion ($6.59 billion), based on estimates for tonnages and distances. It is believed that a further increase of RMB 0.01/mt/km ($0.0016/mt/km) in railway
freight charges in
China may be witnessed in the coming period, based on market conditions.
