China's PPI up 5.5 percent in December

In December last year, China's producer price index (PPI) increased by 5.5 percent year on year and was up 1.6 percent month on month, according to data released by China's National Bureau of Statistics (NBS) on January 10. Meanwhile, in December Chinese industrial producers' purchase prices were up 6.3 percent year on year and increased by 1.9 percent compared to November.
 
As for the average price index in 2016, China's producer price index (PPI) decreased by 1.4 percent year on year, while Chinese industrial producers' purchase prices were down 2.0 percent year on year.
 
In December last year, the PPI for capital goods increased by 7.2 percent year on year. Specifically, in December the PPI for the domestic raw material industry was up 9.8 percent, while the index for the processing industry rose by 5.1 percent, both year on year.
