China's PPI down 4.6 percent in May

In May this year, China's producer price index (PPI) decreased by 4.6 percent year on year and was down 0.1 percent month on month, according to data released by China's National Bureau of Statistics (NBS). Meanwhile, in May Chinese industrial producers' purchase prices were down 5.5 percent year on year and remained unchanged from the previous month.

As for the average price index in the January-May period of the current year, China's producer price index (PPI) decreased by 4.6 percent year on year, while Chinese industrial producers' purchase prices were down 5.5 percent year on year.

In May, the PPI for capital goods decreased by 5.9 percent year on year and was down 0.1 percent from the previous month. Specifically, in May this year the PPI for the domestic raw material industry was down 7.9 percent year on year and increased by 0.3 percent month on month, while the index for the processing industry declined by 3.8 percent year on year and decreased by 0.3 percent month on month.
