According to the latest figures, China's power consumption in September rose 10.24 percent year on year to 322.41 billion kWh. The growth rate was up two percentage points compared with the year-on-year growth rate in the previous month, and constitutes the largest year-on-year growth monthly margin in the current year. China's total power consumption in the first nine months of this year reached 2.66 trillion kWh, an increase of 1.4 percent over the same period last year.

Under the influence of the financial crisis, China's power consumption indicated year-on-year declines in each month from October 2008 to May 2009, before registering a rise of 4.3 percent in June. The power consumption growth rates for July and August stood at six percent and 8.22 percent respectively, indicating a more rapid recovery in demand for power.
