pig iron ($48.34 million in trade value) to
Japan and 105'681 tons ($32.63 million in trade value) to South
Korea.
Through the first five months of 2005,
China exported 510'881 tons of
pig iron to
Japan, while South
Korea received shipments totaling 500'176 tons. In terms of trade value, the exports to
Japan totaled $154.35 million, while those to South
Korea reached $154.78 million.
China's exports to

Korea accounted for 69% of the country's overall 1'468'313 tons of
pig iron exported in the first five months.
In May,
China imported only 8'122 tons of
pig iron worth a combined $1.74 million. The country's overall
pig iron imports for the first five months reached 40'298 tons and carried a trade value of $8.53 million
