In April this year, China’s stainless steel imports amounted to 122,000 mt, down 1.02 percent month on month, while down 48.93 percent year on year, according to China’s customs authorities.
In April, China’s stainless steel exports totaled 376,300 mt, up 7.69 percent month on month, while down 1.43 percent year on year.
In the January-April period this year, China’s stainless steel imports and exports amounted to 583,000 mt and 1.3435 million mt, down 50.75 percent and 6.95 percent year on year, respectively.
In April, China’s net export volume of stainless steel reached 254,200 mt, up 12.44 percent month on month, while rising by 78.12 percent year on year, easing the oversupply in the Chinese domestic stainless steel market. In the first four months this year, China’s net export volume of stainless steel totaled 760,500 mt, up 192.51 percent year on year.
At the same time, in April, China’s stainless steel scrap imports amounted to 37,695 mt, down 3.09 percent month on month, while up 646.49 percent year on year. In the January-April period this year, China’s stainless steel scrap imports reached 140,693 mt, up 1,051.36 percent year on year.
