China’s NDRC approves railway and urban rail projects

On January 16, China’s National Development and Reform Commission (NDRC) stated that it has approved railway and urban rail transit projects in Yunnan Province and in the city of Jinan in Shandong Province, with total respective investments of around RMB 9.42 billion ($1.52 billion) and RMB 43.72 billion ($7.05 billion).

In particular, 3 urban rail transit lines will be built in Jinan in the period up to 2019, including the R1 line, the first phase of the R2 line and the first phase of the R3 line, with a total length of 80.6 kilometers and a total investment of RMB 43.72 billion. In Yunnan Province, the investment in question will be made in the Mile-Mengzi railway, with a total length of 116.4 kilometers. 

Since October 2013, the NDRC has approved 43 projects (not including the two abovementioned projects), including railways, roads, new airports and expansions of old airports, with total investments of over RMB 1.364897 trillion ($0.22 trillion).
