According to China’s National Bureau of Statistics (NBS), in October this year China’s iron ore production amounted to 78.048 million mt, increasing by 0.875 percent month on month, up 3.2 percent year on year, 5.3 percentage points lower than the year-on-year growth rate recorded in September. The declines in import iron ore prices and stricter environmental protection measures resulted in the slower increase in iron ore output in October.

In the January-October period of the current year, China produced 711.6 million mt of iron ore, rising by 6.5 percent year on year.

As previously reported by SteelOrbis, China imported 877.183 million mt of iron ore in the January-October period of the year, down 1.6 percent year on year.
