China’s iron ore imports increase by 7.9 percent in January-May

In May this year, China’s imports of iron ore and iron ore concentrate amounted to 91.52 million mt, up 11.30 percent month on month and increasing by 5.96 percent year on year, while in the January-May period this year China’s imports of iron ore and iron ore concentrate totaled 444.57 million mt, up 7.9 percent year on year, as announced by the Chinese customs authorities on June 8.

 

In May this year, China imported 1.11 million mt of finished steel, up 2.78 percent month on month and increasing by 1.8 percent year on year. In the January-May period, China’s imports of finished steel totaled 5.67 million mt, rising by 6.5 percent year on year.
