China’s iron ore imports increase by 7.5 percent in January-July

In July this year, China’s imports of iron ore and iron ore concentrate amounted to 86.25 million mt, down 8.9 percent month on month and decreasing by 2.4 percent year on year, while in the January-July period this year China’s imports of iron ore and iron ore concentrate totaled 625.43 million mt, up 7.5 percent year on year, as announced by the Chinese customs authorities on August 8. 

In July this year, China imported 0.98 million mt of finished steel, down 13.3 percent month on month and also decreasing by 13.3 percent year on year. In the January-July period, China’s imports of finished steel totaled 7.79 million mt, rising by 2.6 percent year on year.
