In the January-July period this year, China’s hot rolled coil (HRC) production amounted to 117.74 million mt, up 9.5 percent year on year, according to China’s National Bureau of Statistics (NBS).

In the same period, China’s cold rolled coil (CRC) production totaled 21.207 million mt, down 1.3 percent year on year.

In July alone, China’s hot rolled coil (HRC) production and cold rolled coil (CRC) production totaled 17.417 million mt and 3.462 million mt, up 19.5 percent and 12.1 percent year on year, while decreasing by 1.66 percent and 0.09 percent month on month, respectively.

HRC prices in the Chinese domestic market moved up first in July, while moving down later amid the negative impact of typhoons which resulted in heavy rainfalls and floods, especially in northern China, with the highest level in July at RMB 4,150/mt ($576/mt) seen on July 31, and the lowest level in the month observed on July 11 at RMB 3,920/mt ($544/mt).
