China’s HRC imports up 112 percent in August

China's HR coil export volume in August stood at 367,800 mt, down 1.25 million mt or 77.3 percent year on year, totaling a value of $192 million, down $1.44 billion or 88.25 percent compared with the same period last year. The average export price was $522.06/mt. Total January-August HR coil exports reached 1.2857 million mt, down 6.56 million mt or 83.61 percent, amounting to a value of $849 million, down $5.91 billion or 87.44 percent year on year.

HR coil imports in August came to 336,000 mt, up 177,200 mt or 111.59 percent year on year, totaling a value of $248 million, up $65 million or 35.36 percent compared with the same period last year. The average HR coil import price was $738.05/mt. Total HR coil imports in the January-August period reached 3.24 million mt, up 1.93 million mt or 145.84 percent, amounting to $1.94 billion in value, up $491 million or 33.82 percent year on year.
