China’s foreign trade value up 15 percent in Q1

In March this year, China’s total foreign trade value amounted to $337.29 billion, indicating a month-on-month increase of 35.5 percent and a year-on-year rise of 18.2 percent, as announced by the Chinese customs authorities on April 13. In the given month, the total value of China’s exports amounted to $180.61 billion, up 50.7 percent month on month and increasing by 16.4 percent year on year, while Chinese imports totaled $156.68 billion in value, up 21.4 percent month on month and increasing by 20.3 percent year on year, resulting in a trade surplus of $23.92 billion. 

In the January-March period of the current year, China’s total foreign trade value amounted to $899.97 billion, up 15 percent year on year, while the total value of China’s exports amounted to $482.79 billion, up 8.2 percent, with imports totaling $417.18 billion in value, rising by 24 percent, both year on year, resulting in a trade surplus of $65.61 billion in the given period.
