China’s foreign trade value down 9.8 percent in January-April

In April this year, China’s total foreign trade value amounted to $299.963 billion, indicating a month-on-month increase of 2.8 percent and a year-on-year decrease of 5.8 percent, as announced by the Chinese customs authorities on May 8. In the given month, the total value of China’s exports amounted to $172.763 billion, up 7.4 percent month on month and decreasing by 1.8 percent year on year, while Chinese imports totaled $127.200 billion in value, down 2.9 percent month on month and declining by 10.9 percent year on year, resulting in a trade surplus of $45.562 billion.

In the January-April period of the current year, China’s total foreign trade value amounted to $1.102056 trillion, down 9.8 percent year on year, while the total value of China’s exports amounted to $636.629 billion, down 7.6 percent, with Chinese imports totaling $465.468 billion in value, declining by 12.8 percent, both year on year, resulting in a trade surplus of $171.201 billion in the given period.
