China’s fixed asset investments in highways and waterways up 9.2% in H1

In the first six months of the current year, China's overall fixed asset investments in its highways and waterways totaled RMB 599.6 billion ($97.77 billion), up 9.2 percent year on year, as announced by China's Ministry of Transport (MOT) on July 25. Regarding the investments in question, the first quarter total indicated a 1.4 percent year-on-year decrease, while the second quarter figure showed a 14.6 percent year-on-year rise. A slight increase on year-on-year basis in the investments in highways and waterways is anticipated in the second half of the year.

Meanwhile, the overall figure for passenger traffic on China's railways, highways and waterways in the first half of the current year increased by 5.6 percent year on year to 19.55 billion, according to the Ministry of Transport data.
