China’s finished steel exports up 40.7 percent in January-March

In March this year, China exported 7.70 million mt of finished steel, up 13.9 percent year on year, according to the monthly import and export data issued by the Chinese customs authorities on April 22. In the January-March period of the current year, China exported 25.78 million mt of finished steel, up 40.7 percent year on year.

In particular, in March China's export volumes of steel bars, angles/channels, wire rod and steel plate amounted to 2.49 million mt, 380,000 mt, 130,000 mt, and 3.85 million mt, up 12 percent, down 2.2 percent, down 19.9 percent, and up 22.3 percent, respectively, year on year. In the January-March period, China's export volumes of steel bars, angles/channels, wire rod and steel plate amounted to 8.91 million mt, 1.25 million mt, 530,000 mt, and 11.97 million mt, up 61.1 percent, 9.6 percent, 24.6 percent and 38.6 percent, respectively, year on year.
