China’s crude steel production rises in June

China's crude steel production in June totaled 49.4247 million mt, up 2.7938 million mt or 5.99 percent year on year. Average daily production during the month reached 1.6475 million mt, up by 148,800 mt or 9.93 percent month on month. Meanwhile, crude steel production for the January-June period reached 266.5829 million mt, up 3.2418 million mt or 1.23 percent year on year.

Taking imports and exports into consideration, the newly-added supply of crude steel to China's market in June totaled 50.0052 million mt, up 7.2398 million mt or 16.93 percent year on year. From January to June, the newly-added supply reached 267.9594 million mt, up 24.4418 million mt or 10.04 percent year on year.

In the month of June, China's exports of crude steel accounted for 2.89 percent of total national crude steel production; meanwhile, crude steel exports in the first six months of this year constituted 3.5 percent of total domestic production.

China's pig iron production in June totaled 47.5295 million mt, up 4.7972 million mt or 11.23 percent year on year. At the same time, total pig iron production in the January-June period reached 258.799 million mt, up 13.6396 million mt or 5.56 percent compared to the corresponding period in 2008.

China's finished steel production for June totaled 61.6218 million mt, up 7.5841 million mt or 14.03 percent year on year. On the other hand, national finished steel production from January to June inclusive reached 316.4824 million mt, up 16.9922 million mt or 5.67 percent year on year.

The breakdown of China's finished steel production in June according to the various products is as follows:

China's coke output for June totaled 31.7231 million mt, up 1.9547 million mt or 6.57 percent year on year. Meanwhile, national coke output for the January-June period reached 158.4645 million mt, down 8.07 million mt or 4.85 percent year on year.

China's ferroalloy output totaled 2.1566 million mt in June, up 297,800 mt or 16.02 percent year on year. For the January-June period, on the other hand, national ferroalloy production reached 9.4203 million mt, down 94,500 mt or 0.99 percent year on year.

In June, China's iron ore output totaled 83.2688 million mt, down 1.3654 million mt or 1.61 percent compared with the same month last year. The January-June iron ore output reached 379.9193 million mt, down 19.2355 million mt or 4.82 percent year on year.
