China’s crude steel output up 7.5% to 779.04 million mt in 2013

In 2013, China's outputs of crude steel, pig iron and finished steel amounted to 779.04 million mt, 708.97 million mt and 1,067.62 million mt respectively, up 7.5 percent, 6.2 percent and 11.4 percent year on year, as announced by China's National Bureau of Statistics (NBS).
 
In December alone, China produced 62.35 million mt of crude steel, 54.72 million mt of pig iron and 90.41 million mt of finished steel, up 6.5 percent, 5.3 percent and 10.3 percent year on year, respectively. China's average daily outputs of crude steel and finished steel in the given month amounted to 2.011 million mt and 2.916 million mt, down 0.9 percent and 3.1 percent month on month, respectively.
 
Meanwhile, in 2013 China produced 476.36 million mt of metallurgical coke, up 8.1 percent year on year, while domestic coke output in December totaled 39.81 million mt, up 9.2 percent year on year.
