China’s crude steel output declines in August

According to China's National Bureau of Statistics, in August this year Chinese domestic crude steel output totaled 51.64 million mt, down 1.1 percent year on year - the first negative year-on-year growth in 2010. Meanwhile, China's daily crude steel output in August was 1.6658 million mt, down 3,200 mt month on month. The country's pig iron output in August was 48.84 million mt, down 0.9 percent, while its finished steel output was 69.68 million mt, up 11.5 percent, both on year-on-year basis. China's total crude steel output in the January-August period this year was 425.77 million mt, up 15.3 percent year on year.
