China’s CPI rises by two percent in August, PPI down 3.5 percent

In August this year, China's consumer price index (CPI) indicated a year-on-year increase of 2.0 percent and was up 0.6 percent month on month, accordingly to China's National Bureau of Statistics. Meanwhile, China's CPI in the January-August period of the current year increased by 2.9 percent compared to the same period of the previous year.

Also in August of the current year, China's producer price index (PPI) fell by 3.5 percent compared to the same month last year and dropped by 0.5 percent compared with July this year, recording its lowest level in the past 34 months. China's PPI for the first eight months of this year witnessed a decrease of 1.3 percent on year-on-year basis
