In July, China's consumer price index (CPI) grew 5.6 percent year on year and rose by 0.9 percent compared with the previous month. China's CPI figure has increased 3.5 percent over the first seven months of the current year.

For both July and the January-July period, the CPI has exceeded the target of three percent set by China's central bank. As a result, China is expected to introduce further stringent measures to control its spiraling inflation.
