Chinese state-owned company Aluminum Corporation of China (Chinalco) has announced that it held a ceremony on February 23 to mark the arrival of the first ship carrying iron ore imported from Australian miner Rio Tinto at the port of Lianyungang, Jiangsu Province.
Peter Taylor, Rio Tinto's general marketing manager for China, stated that the arrival of the first shipment represented the start of cooperation between both parties, a view echoed by Chinalco spokesman Yuan Li.
