China posts increased coal production for 2008

In 2008, China produced 2.716 billion mt of coal, up 193 million mt or 7.65 percent as compared to last year. For the year in question, eight Chinese provinces registered coal yields in excess of one hundred millions tons, while 35 large coal-producing enterprises declared outputs of over 10 million mt.
