China issues iron ore import licenses for 91.7279 million mt in October

The China Iron and Steel Association (CISA) has announced that in October this year China’s Ministry of Commerce (MOC) issued iron ore import licenses for a total of 91.7279 million mt, down 16.25 percent month on month, valued at $5.304 billion. In the January-October period of the year, the MOC issued iron ore import licenses for a total of 1.04317 billion mt, valued at $63.84 billion.

In October this year, the iron ore import licenses issued by China for Australian and Brazilian iron ore amounted to 55.2656 million mt and 21.7931 million mt respectively, down 24.84 percent and rising by 20.27 percent month on month, with respective values of $3.161 billion and $1.301 billion. In the January-October period of the current year, the iron ore import licenses issued for Australian and Brazilian iron ore totaled 662.6517 million mt and 209.4595 million mt, valued at $39.651 billion and $13.575 billion, respectively.

Licenses issued for imports of South African iron ore in October amounted to 3.7625 million mt, down 19.32 percent month on month, valued at $234 million, while licenses issued for iron ore from other countries amounted to 1.5383 million mt, valued at $78 million. In the January-October period of the year, the import licenses issued for iron ore from South Africa and other countries amounted to 46.2146 million mt and 32.2246 million mt, valued at $3.036 billion and $1.730 billion, respectively.
