China's National Development and Reform Commission (NDRC) has stated that China will vigorously promote high-speed rail construction projects in the five years from 2010 to 2014 inclusive. The country plans to invest RMB 70 million (about $10.25 million) per year in such projects, totaling RMB 350 million (about $51.24 million) for the five years in question.

An official of China's NDRC said that the government's economic package aimed at stimulating domestic demand will bring huge opportunities for the development of the domestic railway system.
